Quest Nutrition was founded in 2010 by Ron and Shahanna Penna and is headquartered in Los Angeles, USA. In 2019, Quest Nutrition became part of the Simply Good Foods Company, which also distributes the Atkins brand® - named after the inventor of the low-carb Atkins diet. As with many other successful supplement manufacturers, the company's history began in the kitchen of the company's founders, where the first handmade Quest Bar saw the light of day. Today, Quest Nutrition is the number 1 in the protein bar category in the USA. The company's motto is "Start your Quest today"

In the beginning, the company focused on producing protein bars - Quest Bars - that are characterized by being free of added sugars, low in carbohydrates, based on whole, dairy-based proteins, made from natural ingredients and sweetened with low-calorie sweeteners that the body cannot metabolize and that have no effect on blood sugar levels. Due to its low carbohydrate content of between 1 and 7 grams with a protein content of 20 grams, this bar is also suitable for a low-carbohydrate diet.

The Quest Bar is available in a variety of different flavors and was awarded the "Protein Bar of the Year" prize in 2012 and 2013. In 2014, the product range was expanded to include protein powder and protein potato chips and now also includes protein cookies, ready-to-drink protein shakes, protein candy and low-carb, high-protein pizza.
