The Glutamine

"The Glutamine" comes from our leading product range and supports the recovery of muscle tissue, enables more intensive and more frequent training and more effective regeneration than ever before!

We know how important recovery is. Remember, muscle isn't built in the gym, it's built in the recovery phase afterwards!

Our founder, 6-time Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates, knows a thing or two about how to optimize muscle building. Here's his take on supplementing with glutamine:

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Glutamine (L-glutamine) is an amino acid that occurs naturally in food and is produced by the body. However, these two sources only produce a small amount of glutamine, which is quickly used up after minimal exercise. L-glutamine has been shown to be helpful for muscle recovery after exercise and can even reduce muscle soreness after intense workouts. L-glutamine serves as an energy source for immune cells, such as white blood cells, and thus strengthens the immune system.

Glutamine is associated with muscle homeostasis and the synthesis of muscle proteins. One of the functions of glutamine in our body is to decrease the oxidation rate of leucine and increase the deposition of leucine, which enhances the effect of leucine in a skeletal muscle cell.

Studies show that glutamine supplementation can support gut health and function in several ways: It reduces inflammation in the gut and supports a healthy immune system. Prolonged endurance training is known to lead to leaky gut, and glutamine supplementation reduces exercise-induced gut permeability.

Beta-glucan is a soluble type of fiber that can partially dissolve in liquids. Beta-glucan strengthens the immune system and heart health by increasing chemicals that prevent infection and by lowering cholesterol and triglycerides. Beta-glucan also acts as a blood sugar regulator.

WHAT DORIAN YATES SAYS

"Recovery is at the forefront of every athlete's mind if they want to reach their potential. You can't train hard without replenishing the most abundant amino acid in the body. We've kept it simple and fast: Glutamine combined with a small amount of beta-glucan to boost the immune system, with no added flavors. If you train as hard as I expect you to, then a serving straight after training should be mandatory - no excuses."

Key benefits

  • Most abundant amino acid in muscle tissue
  • Improves gut barrier function and helps with leaky gut syndrome
  • Beneficial for improved gut function, reduced inflammation and immune support
  • After prolonged endurance training, plasma glutamine levels are reduced, which correlates with an increased risk of infection. Glutamine supplementation helps to prevent this increase.
