What is Guarana?
Guarana bears the botanical name “Paullina Cupana” and is a primeval forest liana with separated, composite leaves; the blossoms are yellow and build loose racemes. Each of the threecelled fruit capsules contains seeds, which look like horse chest nuts. After the process of drying, the fresh seeds are to peel away easy from the fruit. The seeds are being washed and afterwards roasted for six hours, before they are used.

Long time before the first European settlers came to the Amazon, the aborigines discovered the clamberer with the red fruits and dark cores. At first they called it “Warana”. Later, Guarana became out of it. The Amazon Indians like to take Guarana before exhausting works and long marches – thereby they are feeling strengthened and lively. No wonder - is this plant containing among other things caffeine (rd. 3, 5%). This is almost three times more than it is the case with normal coffee. For this reason Guarana is considered as the strongest naturally occurring caffeine.

Contrary to the caffeine out of coffee, tea etc. the high-pure Guarana caffeine does not burden neither heart and stomach nor circulation. Guaranine is considerably better tolerated than usual caffeine, because the body takes it in the bowel. The high amount on carbohydrates and raw-fibres makes a permanent, gentle caffeine release sure. That is why Guarana is especially suitable for people who do not tolerate coffee or tea very well but do not want to do without it.
